Welcome to this Grade 8 maths lesson!
In this video, we'll dive into Geometric Patterns, a fundamental part of the Grade 8 Mathematics curriculum (CAPS) under the Patterns topic. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect to learn:
✅ Geometric patterns:
Learn about geometric patterns, which are patterns represented with physical objects or diagrams.
Learn how to extend patterns by drawing the next few structures in the pattern.
Learn how to represent the pattern in the form of a table.
Learn how to find the rule (Tn or nth term) for the pattern.
Learn how to find the number of items (matches, toothpicks, squares etc) in a particular structure in the pattern based on the term number, or position.
Learn how to find the term number, or position, of a structure that would have a given number of items (matches, toothpicks, squares etc).
✅ Types of patterns included:
Linear patterns (arithmetic sequences with constant difference)
Quadratic patterns - touched on briefly
