Sunday Morning in Siaton, Negros Oriental | Market, Church & Balanan Lake

Join me on a Sunday morning adventure in Siaton, Negros Oriental! The day began with a much-needed coffee and breakfast at the rustic Nedy Ragay Eatery, right by the plaza—perfect for gathering my video equipment before exploring the town.

The Sunday farmers' market was my first stop. Though smaller than expected, it had some unique finds like ground corn and soya beans used as a coffee substitute. Outside the Siaton Church, I visited vendors selling candles, medicinal herbs, and tinctures, before stepping inside the church for a quick look.

Back at the plaza, a giant shoe-shaped slide caught my eye, a fun feature for kids. I also filmed the Dr. Jose Rizal statue with the Siaton Town Hall in the background—one of its large doors was open, giving me a chance to take a peek inside.

Even though I had filmed the market before, I explored it again—there’s always something new to capture! This time, I spotted live chickens stacked on a jeepney roof and even a shop renting out suits and ball gowns.

By midday, I set off to find Balanan Lake. Hidden within dense forest, this scenic spot offers a campsite, swimming pool, restaurant, accommodations, and boat rentals—a great destination for a day trip with family or friends. The trip there included an adventurous river crossing, making it even more exciting!
