All alumni, parents, and friends were invited to join the UVA Clubs of China for an informative talk with Thomas Talhelm (GSAS '11, '15), Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Many people want to do more than just make money. They want to make the world a better place. Social enterprises are one increasingly popular way to do that. In this talk, Thomas told the story of how he (accidentally) started a social enterprise in China. He talked about the challenges he had faced, what exactly makes social enterprise different from regular companies, and why social enterprise is probably the best option for the regulatory environment in China.
