Η μοντέρνα, μεγαλοπρεπής, αλλά ταυτόχρονα και μυστικιστκή ομορφιά της καλντέρας της Σαντορίνης είναι πραγματικά μοναδική. Ένας πολυτάραχος χαρακτήρας που συνδέεται με μια μακρά πορεία μέσα στο χρόνο, ξεκινώντας από την προϊστορική εποχή.
Περίπου 16 χιλιόμετρα από πολύχρωμα βράχια, που ανεβαίνουν μέχρι 300 μ. πάνω από έναν τεράστιο κρατήρα πνιγμένο στη θάλασσα, υπόλειμμα μιας από τις μεγαλύτερες ηφαιστειακές εκρήξεις στην ιστορία της ανθρωπότητας. Παρά το γεγονός ότι το ηφαίστειο είναι αδρανές κατά την τρέχουσα περίοδο, ατμοί και διοξείδιο του άνθρακα αναβλύζουν από τον υφιστάμενο ενεργό κρατήρα ακόμη και σήμερα.
Υπάρχουν πολλά να δει, να αγγίξει, να αναπνεύσει και να αισθανθεί κανείς σε όλο το νησί. Κομψότητα, έντονη ποικιλία, και ίσως ακόμη και καθαρή αντίφαση. Η άγρια ομορφιά ενισχύεται όταν μια σαρωτική διακοπή ρεύματος, σε αφήνει ολομόναχο να θαυμάζεις την απεραντοσύνη της φύσης τη νύχτα.
