Rebuild problems 1985 Cannondale ST500 Touring Bike for Practical Cyclocamping

A 25"/63.5cm companion touring bike revive effort of a 35 plus year storage in a garden shed and then donated to our Fix Your Bike Day program. It has a Huret Duopar Eco parallelogram rear derailleur, Dia Comp Grand Compe aero brake levers, and Suntour Bar Cons and Suntour cartridge bearing bottom bracket. Upgraded Specialized wheelset with cartridge bearings making it equivalent to Phil Wood hubs.

This is the companion bike and it has problems. The Modolo Flash brake aluminum pinch washer is aluminum and terrible. The aluminum part round brake bridge washers are too narrow and deform easily. I did figure out how to adjust the Huret Duopar Eco derailleur for proper operation. Note if you keep the derailleur mounting bolt loose so that it will pivot, you will need to take the bike to your local machine shop and have them install a stainless steel threaded insert because your threaded hole is probably stripped. Have you seen or used sutherlandsbicycle.com? Their product Mechanics Handbook CD has information you cannot find on the Internet for bicycle repair. I have a third edition binder, and without it these videos would be more prone to errors. Now their database and product is on CD.
