The creation of four photo paintings by Steve Patchin, this video shows the progress using original photography and combining digital painting techniques, textures, adjustments and colors to create new images that are often thought to be paintings. In fact, they are digital paintings that start with photographs and evolve into new works through meticulous digital work. Some people use the term "Photoshopped" as though only a button is pushed, and nothing becomes something. All four of these examples took days of work and required much more than pushing a couple buttons. Digital tools such as Photoshop are just that: tools. They are not magic that creates images. It still takes a photographer/artist to create effective and unique images that can be considered art.
Steve Patchin is owner of Patchin Pictures in Las Vegas, and is also the owner of Art Bus Coffee, a mobile coffee shop and art gallery in an English Double Decker bus.
