My South African Village Home or Homestead Finally Has a Name

I know it is not normal to name your home… especially in Xhosa culture, where the homestead already carries the weight of ancestry and family history. But as we built in the village, I felt strongly that this place needed a name that would speak to our parents, our roots, and the future we are shaping.
We chose to call our homestead:
✨ Angel’s Hope at Dawn ✨
It is our way of honoring our parents — their sacrifices, their dreams, and the hope they carried for us, even in the hardest of times. Dawn represents new beginnings, a reminder that every sunrise is a chance to start again.
A close second name was Angel’s Hope at Sunrise — because whether it is dawn or sunrise, the message is the same: hope is alive, and it carries us forward.
So even if naming a home isn’t our norm, it feels right. It feels like a prayer stitched into the walls.
