Memory verse:
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
Summary of the sermon:
Adam and Eve knew God's words well but they did not obey. Eve was tempted by the serpent and disobeyed God's word by eating the fruit of good and evil. And she also gave the fruit to Adam, and Adam also disobeyed God's word and ate it. When we don't obey God's word, We call it 'sin.' Adam and Eve disobeyed God's word and sinned. And they became sinners.
But that wasn't the end. Since Adam disobeyed God's word, sin came into Adam. And all of us, as Adam's descendants, became sinners. A big problem happened to us who became sinners. All people became distant from God because of sin.
The result that came to people who became distant from God was death. Because of sin, we became distant from God. We all became determined to die because of sin, unable to be with the holy God. No one could escape from sin and death by themselves.
But there is someone whom God sent to this earth because He had compassion on us and loved us so much. It's Jesus. God allowed His son, Jesus, to die on the cross and our sins were forgiven. After that, our distant relationship with God became close again, and we no longer live as sinners but as children of God.
We must live to be thankful for God's love who sent Jesus for us who were sinners because He saved us from sin and made us clean when we were determined to die. So, we must live by doing things and actions that make God happy. When we do that, God will be very happy.
Prayer:
Father God. Thank you for your grace and love. Thank you for loving and forgiving us who was sinners before. Let us always do things and actions that make you happy, and glorify your name. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
