PNG, as a Nation, 50 years on, the messages of peace, unity and independence lingers on.
Every provinces continue to live in their own ways, and the perception of independence varies from the coasts to the highlands.
In East New Britain province, it was a dream come through for the small island province that wanted to end the colonial regime through the Matangaun Association.
A combination of ideologies introduced by the early Christian missionaries, the traders, colonizers and the world wars have influence the political, economic and social landscape of the province.
Even today, East New Britain continues to embrace the fact that, the province, to some extent had influenced the country’s fight for independence.
As there were some of East New Britain great leaders, who stood alongside Sir Michael Somare, when the Australian flag was lowered for the last time, and the PNG flag hoisted for the very first time.
This is part of a video documentary that NBC East New Britain will broadcast in September.
