Indie Bookstore Day, Stinkfest Bring Old Central City to Life

The coolest places on Earth are bookstores with coffee shops, and one of my favorite haunts is Cicada Books and Coffee in the Old Central City neighborhood of Huntington, West Virginia. When they asked me to be part of their Independent Bookstore Day celebration, you bet, I agreed!
The event coincided with Stinkfest at the Wild Ramp grocery store across the street. Also known as Ramp Day by locals, Stinkfest is a celebration of a special type of onion grown in Appalachia called a wild ramp, or Allium tricoccum (try cock um) in scientific circles.
