CES Government Apologizes to St. Stephen’s Church: “No Harm Will Come to You — Your Security Is Our Responsibility”
Juba – May 8, 2025
The Government of Central Equatoria State (CES), represented by Hon. David Morbe Aquilino, Minister of Housing, Land and Public Utilities, and Hon. Lupai Satimon Andrew, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, has issued a formal apology to St. Stephen’s Church following clashes between community members and churchgoers earlier this morning.
In a joint statement, the ministers reaffirmed the state's commitment to safeguarding religious institutions and ensuring the safety of all worshippers:
“No harm will come to you — your security is our responsibility. We deeply regret the incident and extend our sincere apologies to the church leadership and congregation. The Government of CES stands firmly against any form of violence or intimidation targeting places of worship.”
The CES government also confirmed that investigations are underway and that additional security measures are being taken to prevent further tensions and ensure peace within the community.
