Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends - The Original Soundtrack (Series 2)

As promised here is Series 2's soundtrack.
Series 2 was definitely where the composers Mike and Junior decided to step things up a notch in the production value for the music.
From my own observation, Series 2’s music carries a lot from what Series 1 had with the small flutters for the ditties and some familiar themes return but a common difference between 1 & 2’s music is the larger use of reverb on the themes compare to Series 1’s drier mixes and the growling low string patch which adds a much darker and ominous tone to the music. See themes like Ghost Train, Sad Cow Ditti, The Breakdown Train and even some of the smaller cues.

Series 1’s music while still fairly synthy, sounds a lot more natural and orchestral than Series 2’s which is a lot more ‘80s’ so to speak and isn’t shy to make it obvious that the music this season is more a product of its time. Themes like Harold, Daisy and The Viaduct Theme capture the spirit of 1980’s library music and movie scores perfectly with their more experimental instrumentation compare to Series’s 1’s usage of the same patches on most of the themes. But let’s sit back and enjoy nearly 40 minutes of synthetic goodness.
