For around 15 years (or more), I have been wanting to travel to Peru to partake in an ayahuasca ceremony and to experience this sacred plant medicine for myself. Over the intervening years, since first researching this subject, I have allowed the responsibilities, obstacles and distractions of daily life to take precedence.
This year, however, I made a decision - that I was not going to delay this spiritual calling any longer. So, after a search online, I found a retreat located in Pucallpa, a city which lies next to the Ucayali River on the outskirts of the amazonian rainforest. This would be the beautiful location for my first ayahuasca experience... I now just had to get there!
This video is the first of 2 parts. It documents my thoughts and intentions, prior to leaving, and sees me travel over 7,000 miles (with a journey time of around 35 hours), as I fly from Heathrow airport in London, via a quick stop in Miami, before finally arriving in Lima, Peru. The following day, I took an internal flight from Lima to Pucallpa. I arrived at the retreat some 60 hours after my journey began, feeling a little tired, but full of excitement and anticipation at what the next 9 days held in store.
Part 2 will be out soon to document some of the life-changing experiences I encountered with Mama Aya. If you are interested in tales of retribution and redemption, want to know more about this strange and potent brew, or you just want to see and hear me make some music in this breathtaking and inspiring landscape... then you'll not want to miss the next instalment!
Peace x
