We Rented a Car in Northern Thailand and Drove the Mae Hong Son Loop

After months of buses, trains, ferries, and scooter rides, we realized something we hadn’t expected…we missed being behind the wheel.

So without overthinking it, we rented a car in Northern Thailand and started one of the country’s most famous road trips, the Mae Hong Son Loop.

In this video, we begin our Mae Hong Son Loop road trip in Chiang Mai, driving through mountain roads, sharp curves, and remote landscapes on our way toward Chiang Dao and Pai. Along the route, we explore hidden temples, limestone caves, jungle waterfalls, and scenic viewpoints that make Northern Thailand one of the most beautiful regions to travel through by car.

We didn’t rush.
We didn’t plan every stop.
We just kept driving… letting the road guide us through Northern Thailand.
But like all great adventures, not everything goes as planned...
