For the first Jobs-Skills Insights Webinar of 2022, we were joined by Ms Chelvin Loh, Director of Jobs-Skills Insights Division, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), Dr Zeng Xianting, Programme Director, Advanced Manufacturing Training Academy (AMTA), and Mr Gary Gan Chia Huey, CEO and Co-founder, JobKred in a series of three presentations, touching on how to transform businesses and develop talent to embrace the future of manufacturing. Industry 4.0 (I4.0), through digitalisation and automation, has created new job opportunities and transformed the job content of existing roles. This means enterprises and workforce will need to be equipped with new skills to stay ahead.
SSG shared on the hiring demand for I4.0-related roles in Singapore, which has been on the rise since 2021 despite COVID-19 pandemic. New products, services and business models in the Green Economy are also supported by I4.0, creating new opportunities and changing the job content and skills requirements of existing jobs. The changes also highlight the importance of Critical Core Skills identified for learning, agile and sustainable workforce to support I4.0 growth.
AMTA’s sharing on their three-step approach to assist enterprises on I4.0 transformation brought in a practical dimension, showcasing how organisations might take action to embark on I4.0.
JobKred’s five-step manpower strategy rounded up the presentations to introduce an approach to increase enterprise agility to react quickly to disruption, build cross-functional teams and identify and build new competencies and capabilities to pivot or launch new business lines rapidly.
