While there are a lot of comic books out there, and a lot of companies who create these books, the two titans of the industry are undeniably miles above everyone else in terms of popularity and success. And those two titans are Marvel and DC. Yes, for decades now, if you were a fan of superheroes, then you were almost certainly a fan of at least one of these, and if you were a fan of at least one of them then you probably had a favorite.

So if the two sides ever crossed over and went to battle then, as they would occasionally do on both the printed page and the small screen, then you probably had a side you were getting behind. And that was what made it so exciting to read about or watch two paragons of virtue like Batman and Captain America clashing, two female heroes locking horns when Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel met, or the battle for the strongest being in the universe taking place when Superman challenged Thor.

No, it’s true that the two companies have not been able to work anything out yet so that a clash between DC and Marvel takes place on the big screen. But this doesn't mean it won’t happen in the future. And if it does it will probably make a small country's worth of money as audiences flocked to their local multiplex to watch something like Catwoman and Black Widow finding out who really is the best black catsuit clad antihero.
