This weekend, Tulleys Farm — that quietly industrious patch of West Sussex countryside better known for pumpkins and mazes — will host something rather more energetic: a sporting trial. For the uninitiated, this is a wonderfully eccentric form of motorsport in which plucky drivers in two-wheel-drive cars attempt to coax their machines up muddy hills without stalling, touching the gate poles, or generally sliding backwards into embarrassment.
The event, grandly titled The Tulleys Farm Trial, takes place on November 2, 2025, and forms part of the Motorsport UK British Sporting Trials Championship — a name that suggests tweed, determination, and at least a faint whiff of burning clutch. Tulleys Farm itself sits in Turners Hill, West Sussex, where the scenery is idyllic, the mud is plentiful, and the sound of revving engines will no doubt mingle cheerfully with the lowing of mildly alarmed cows.
