Large and complex musical diorama. A microcosm within a glass dome featuring a lakeside scene of people working and playing. The papier mache and card flour mill has an authentic conveyor fed with sacks by a man who appears and disappears into the mill, the doors opening and shutting with an audible bang, as if by magic. the foreground with figures and a moving sailing boat in the water, contained in the original glass dome with a finely painted backdrop.
Very large and impressive with music and multiple animations and beautiful music.
This exact model is featured in an 1885 catalogue of automata held by the V&A museum in London.
