HISTORICAL: Pre-Helene: Scouting the Green River Narrows at 0% from Frankenstein to Sunshine

At this point, I am assuming this is video is a historical snapshot in ways I hadn't thought it would be. Everything I'm hearing is that while the people in the area are okay, the river is different. To understate things.

I'm assuming there are now very different - perhaps new - rapids and new hazards. I suppose we'll know a lot more in the next couple of weeks.

First of all, I'm not a local. Second, I'm not an expert. I have run the Green Narrows Lite two times. The last time I was there, the water was turned off all weekend due to high winds, so I took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy a phenomenal hike, remove some wood that had irritated me a couple days prior, and get a sense of what's under the water.

I helped set safety at the 2022 race, and one of the things I was interested in to prepare was what the pin spot at Go Left looked like so I would know what direction of pull might be necessary, what the hazards to a rescuer would be, and whatever else I might learn. I took that desire for knowledge to this hike, and I tried to get every angle I could on the big rapids of the race course, as well as Groove Tube and Sunshine.

Unfortunately the time I spent removing wood cost me the time I would have needed to take a look at Bride of Frankenstein and the gauge. I was never going to have time to check things out below Sunshine - and I don't even know what most of those rapids are called, anyway.

I hope 1. that this is useful information for someone, and 2. that no information from this will ever be needed (wishful thinking, I know). Please be aware that watching this video is no substitute for competence on the river, scouting, training, or safety know-how.
