A BIRTHDAY GIFT LIKE NONE OTHER. On this day in 1962, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum was opened. Former President and friend Harry Truman accompanied Hoover to the grand opening. Seen here, former library and museum director John Fawcett recollected the two former presidents touring the Museum. Here's a clip remembering that day!

"They got all the way through the exhibit," Fawcett said, "and President Truman turned to President Hoover and said: 'Mr. President... it's a fine library, but I'll tell you one thing, it's too damn small.' And President Hoover just had this big grin on his face and he says: 'Well, Mr. President, you may be right, but I'll tell you one thing, it's going to be run by the government and it'll be overstaffed.'"
