Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood has spoken to New Yorkers on their thoughts after the city’s iconic Roosevelt Hotel was turned into a migrant shelter by New York Mayor Eric Adams last year.
In the past, the luxury hotel has housed the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra, among others.
“Many people now call it the new Ellis Island where refugees are processed to try and make their way into America,” Mr Greenwood said.
“This is all about the housing shortages in New York City; it’s about the migration situation.”
