S. Matthew Schocket, M.D.
Founder and President, Capitol Pain Institute

Dr. Matt Schocket is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain management after completing his residency at UT-Southwestern in Dallas and fellowship at the University of California San Diego. Moving his family back to Texas, Dr. Schocket founded Capitol Pain Institute in 2007 to provide expert pain management to Austin and its surrounding communities. Dr. Schocket is a recognized world-leader in the field of spinal cord stimulation as well as stem-cell therapy for the treatment of chronic low back pain, having lectured on pain management across the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 2014, Dr. Schocket will be an investigator on the initial U.S. trial for Burst neurostimulation.

Raimy Amasha M.D.

Dr. Raimy Amasha joined Capitol Pain Institute after completing his pain management fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and a research internship in stem cell therapy at Stanford University. Dr. Amasha’s emphasis on compassionate medicine has been hallmarked by patient care awards and peer recognition throughout his career. Dr. Amasha is well trained in interventional technique and medication management utilizing a thoughtful and methodical approach to provide the right therapy for the right patient.

Anjuli Desai, M.D.

Dr. Juli Desai joined Capitol Pain Institute after completing her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and fellowship in pain management at Temple University. Dr. Juli Desai’s background offers her a wealth of approaches to managing your different types of pain. Dr. Juli Desai combines a thorough physical exam with diagnostic tests including imaging and nerve conduction studies to create a well-rounded pain management plan. Utilizing these tools, Dr. Juli Desai’s goal is to improve your quality of life and get you back to doing the things you enjoy.

Sameer Sharma, M.D.

Dr. Sameer Sharma is the newest addition to Capitol Pain Institute. Dr. Sameer Sharma completed his undergraduate training at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Dr. Sharma completed medical school training at St. George’s University. Having completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Hofstra University North Shore LIJ in New York. After residency Dr. Sharma continued to pursue his interest in interventional procedures by completing an ACGME pain management fellowship at Temple University with Mid Atlantic Spine. Dr. Sharma is more than delighted to now call Austin his home. As an ardent fan of Bay Area sports teams and admirer of a wide array of music, he has embraced the festive and eclectic culture of Austin in all its beauty. Dr. Sharma is happily married and enjoys living an active lifestyle.
