In this video we talk about Reynard the Fox. He emerged as a literary figure in the 12th century, primarily in Le Roman de Renart, a series of French medieval allegorical stories. The tales depict Reynard as a cunning and morally ambiguous figure, often manipulating other animals to serve his own interests. Reynard's primary adversaries include the noble but somewhat naive King Noble the Lion, the foolish Bruin the Bear, and the dim-witted Isengrim the Wolf.
These stories were more than simple fables. They served as social and political satire, critiquing the corruptions of the court, the church, and the aristocracy. Reynard’s ability to outwit his enemies, despite their higher status, resonated with common folk, allowing the tales to maintain popularity across various regions of Europe.
We speak on the Arts & Science competition for Iron Bog, taking place at Ghosts, Ghouls & Goblins and more on how the piece was made!
