The Metallica Interview Part 1

They say everyone has their 15 minutes of fame. Other than having my picture in The Thornhill Liberal when I was 6 years old, I think this interview would be considered my first chunk of that time in the limelight.

When I was 17 years old I was an intern at Q 107. I used to spend a bunch of time in the studio with Joey Vendetta and Steve Warden during the 6 O'Clock Rock Report. They knew I was a HUGE Metallica fan (and a born again after Death Magnetic). When they were coming to the station to hype up their headlining of Lolapalooza I asked if I could stick around and sit in on the interview with James Hetfield and Jason Newsted. Instead Steve turned around and said "Why don't you interview them?"...To which I replied "Get The Fuck Outta Here!!" Well as you can now hear, he was being serious.

Sure I was a bit nervous, and yeah they goofed on me a bit, but I didn't care. After it was all said and done I got some pictures with the whole band as Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett showed up after they were done their interview at 102.1 The Edge. They also signed a bootleg of Garage Days for me.

This is one of the true highlights of my life, and I am happy to share it with all of you. I hope you enjoy.

FOOTNOTE: Jason Newsted has to be one of the nicest guys on the planet. I hope I get to cross paths with him again one day.
