When I hear someone say they’re afraid to love again, it’s usually because they don’t want to get hurt again. It’s always about how their partner betrayed them, left them, or made them feel unworthy which is completely valid and painfully common.

But one thing I rarely hear people talk about is the other side of that fear, the paralyzing guilt of believing you were the one who ruined everything. It’s the same coin flipped the other way, one side afraid to be hurt again, the other afraid to hurt someone again. Whether we were truly at fault for how things ended is something we may never fully know.


But what’s for sure is how that guilt lingers, how it shapes the way we love, or rather, the way we don’t anymore. Even so, I believe you shouldn't let the what happened trap you. Your past doesn't define your future. Don't let it define your future. It takes two to make a relationship work, so don't let your mind trick you itlnto believing you were solely the problem.
