Tobago has recorded its 12th murder after a woman was shot and killed on Monday 06th November, 2023.

• The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Chiniqua White aka Chin, a mother of one, originally from Basement Road, Upper Seventh Avenue, Malick, Barataria.

• Around 9:10pm, White was reportedly in a white Nissan Versa, in the company of her boyfriend, proceeding south along the Black Rock Main Road.

• Upon reaching the Black Rock Multi-Purpose Centre, a white Nissan Tiida pulled up in front of them, blocking the pathway.

• Two masked men, both armed with firearms, then exited the Tiida and fired several shots at the couple before re-entering their car and fleeing the scene.

• White sustained several gunshot injuries and was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

• The police were notified and a team of officers led by W-Insp Bacchus, W-Insp Sterling, and Insp Mitchell, among others responded and are carrying out investigations.

The last murder that took place in Tobago was on Monday 28th August, 2023, when 67-year-old Reynold Fraser of Queen Street, Betsy’s Hope, Tobago died following a domestic dispute with his neighbour at his home.

White was also the 46th female to be murdered in the country for the year thus far.

The last murdered female is suspected to be 49-year-old Sharon Bedassie who was found shot to death in a gravel road off the Southern Main Road in Warrenville, Cunupia on Friday 03rd November, 2023.
