As a Hmong Woman, taking on your husband's last name can be a journey filled with a mix of emotions—it can be both exhilarating, yet bittersweet. Yet with that comes a subtle ache, like a gentle goodbye to the name that's been part of your story for so long.

When I wrote "Tuav Koj Npe", I wanted to explore that profound journey of love, commitment, and the deeply personal choice of taking on my husband's last name.

At the end of the day, it's not just about changing a name; it's about embracing a new identity while honoring the person I've built myself to become. Yes, there's a quiet mourning for the name that has carried me through every joy, challenge, and growth. But, there's also a feeling of unity, of belonging to something greater than myself, as I take on my future partner's name.

I hope this song captures the balance between holding on and letting go, between tradition and individuality. It's about the love that makes this decision feel right and the strength it takes to carry both my past and our future together. In taking his name, I'm not losing myself—I'm expanding into a new version of who I am, intertwined with the person I love.

This was a personal one for me and I hope to portray the blend of excitement, vulnerability, and tradition that comes with such a significant life change. It's a reflection on how marriage intertwines two lives into one, honoring the past while embracing a shared future. With heartfelt lyrics and a melody that echoes the emotions of this transition, I hope "Tuav Koj Npe" can be a song that celebrates love, identity, and the beautiful evolution that marriage brings.
