Hello world! It's been a month since our last upload on this channel. And voila! Finally got so much time to build a new custom car subwoofer box the usual DIY style! As usual, you will see the ever trusty Makita MLT100 table saw in action, the whole 9 yards of gluing MDF speaker panels, the hole cutting and routing of MDF sheets into a usable car speaker, and of course, you will see all our cute little doggies doing a help on the entire process! So watch til the end!
First business of the day is to build a custom made wedge shaped subwoofer enclosure for the pricey Pioneer D series car subwoofer. Particularly this sub is a Pioneer TS-D12D2, yes it's a 12 inch car subwoofer with double voice coils wound to 2 Ohms each. Handles 600w RMS and up to 2000w peak. The good thing about this subwoofer driver is that it only requires a small box volume of about 1.2 cubic feet for vented enclosure configuration. Smaller box looks good and perfectly fits small vehicles like hatchbacks and small SUVs. Decided to install a metal grill on the front baffle to protect the pricey subwoofer. Applied a few coats of lacquer sanding sealer to prevent the MDF panels to just suck all the paint after. Also by applying sanding sealer, it gives a very smooth finish after just a few rounds of sanding. A whole lot of Bondo body filler is applied after that and another whole rounds of wet sanding thereafter. Then painted the whole thing with gloss black acrylic lacquer in a spray can by coating intervals of about 3 minutes per coats of 3. After that, the fun part begins by splatter n' spatter painting for some dramatic effect. And finally topped using a clear gloss acrylic lacquer.
My favorite part: Assembly time! Mounted the TS-D12D2 subwoofer using M4 T-nuts and Carbon steel machine hex bolts. The corded Makita impact driver does everything smooth and easy.
