Inspired by scholar Tyler Stewart's paper on Enochic ideology in Galatians 3:19–4:11, Michael explores how the New Testament writer Paul likely referenced the sin of the Watchers—fallen angels from Genesis 6:1-4 who cohabited with human women, produced Nephilim giants (whose spirits became demons or "bastard spirits" in Second Temple Jewish literature), and unleashed widespread wickedness through forbidden knowledge—rather than solely Adam's fall as the root of human depravity. Paul subordinates the Mosaic Law, given through angelic mediation (possibly the Angel of the Lord), as a temporary restraint on this cosmic evil to preserve Israel as God's remnant and conduit for the Messiah, contrasting it with the universal Abrahamic promise that transcends the Law's national scope. Galatians 4's "fullness of time" depicts Christ's birth from a woman as a divine reversal of the Watchers' rebellion: Jesus, sent by God, produces legitimate sonship via his indwelling Spirit, liberating humanity from demonic terror and astral powers (stoicheia), adopting believers into God's family, and reconstituting the divine council.​
