WATCH LIVE - Derek Chauvin trial: Defense to cross-examine pulmonologist Dr. Martin Tobin

Pulmonologist Dr. Martin Tobin will re-take the stand Thursday afternoon to be cross-examined by Derek Chauvin's attorney. Tobin shared his opinion while being questioned by prosecutors that George Floyd died from low oxygen caused by shallow breathing. Tobin testified that lack of oxygen caused damage to Floyd's brain, and his heart to stop. Tobin said he believes Floyd's shallow breathing was caused by prone position, handcuffs behind his back, and knees on the neck and back.

On Wednesday the defense and prosecution both played police body camera video from Floyd's arrest, but experts on the stand couldn't agree over what Floyd said in the clip. Chauvin's attorney Eric Nelson asserted Floyd said "I ate too many drugs," while the state insisted he said "I aint do no drugs."

Chauvin faces three charges, second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder in the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody in May 2020.
