The 4% withdrawal rule in retirement has been the standard since the early 1990s. If you've never heard of the 4% rule, that's OK, I will give a brief history of where it came from and provide a down to Earth example of how it works. I will also go more in-depth with the math of one of the many challenges, share my concerns with the 4% rule, and finally how it uniquely affects many federal employees.
