Karam is one of the important festivals of Jharkhand. This festival is celebrated on the Ekadasi of month of Bhado, in which nature is worshiped for good harvest and happiness of human beings, animals and also sisters pray for the long life of their brothers.

AKHRA is a group based in Ranchi, Jharkhand formed in 1996. It was started by Biju Toppo and Meghnath and the group has been working towards making films on issues based in Jharkhand as well as India. In the past 20+ years the group has won several national and international film awards, the highest ones being winning the 58th National Film Awards twice in 2010 and 65th National Film Awards in 2018.
