The present form of Munger district is the result of 5 times division. Munger district was divided into 5 new districts: Begusarai (1976), Khagaria (1988), Jamui (1991) Lakhisarai and Sheikhpura (1994). From the point of view of tourism, Mungre in Bihar has always been a rich historical site with diverse culture and traditions.

People also know this fort as the fort of Mir Qasim. Historians relate it to the Mahabharata period. This fort is situated on a hill on the banks of the holy river Ganga. Like other forts in India, this fort is also known for its marvelous architecture. It is a besieged fort built around 4 gates. The fort is spread over about 222 acres with two hills. This is the first fort in the country, inside which the population resides. Inside the fort is the office of government departments, civil courts as well as the world famous Yoga University. The greenery spread around here affects the tourists to a great extent.

#MirKasimTunnel

In order to deal with the emergency in Munger Fort itself, Mir Qasim had built mysterious tunnels. No one could know where the other end of these tunnels originated from the fort is till today. However, many speculations have been made about this. Where is it that near the tomb of Pir Nafa Shah located in the Munger Mufassil area is the other end of the tunnel.

Situated just 2 kilometers from the Munger district headquarters of Bihar, this is the place of a mother Chandika place in 52 Shaktipeeths of the country. Here the left eye of Mata Sati is worshiped. It is believed that when Lord Vishnu made 52 pieces of sati from the Sudarshan Chakra, his left eye fell here. Along with this, Chandisthan is also mentioned in the stories of King Karna and Vikramaditya in Dwapara Yuga.

The Goinka Pagoda built between the pond is the center of attraction for tourists. The colorful flowers, plants etc. around the pond add to the beauty of the temple. The Shiv temple is built in the middle of a large water tank, which is full of big and beautiful fish, so people call it fish tank. Also know. This temple was built by the Goinka family in the form of a private temple of their Ishta and Kuldevata in about 1895.

#BhimbandhWildlifeSanctuary
One can enjoy the thrilling excursion of Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary in Munger. Spread over about 682 sq km, you can see leopard, forest fowl, nilgai, tiger, chital and sambar among the wild animals here. Apart from this, you can get pleasure of seeing various bird species here. This sanctuary is connected to Jamui district.

#Sitakund
Sita Kund is a hot spring which is located 4 miles east of Munger city. It is said that Mother Sita had proved her purity by giving an ordeal at this place. The fire ignited after the ordeal was converted into hot water. The water of Sita Kund is always hot. There is a cold water spring in front of Sita Kund which is called Ramkund. To its west are three reservoirs called Laxman Kund, Bharatkund and Shatrughankund.

The river Ganges flows near the fort and Pirnaf Sahab Mazar. Locals believe that Lord Rama and Goddess Sita bathed at this place before returning to Ayodhya.


#Rishikund
Hrishikund was once the ascetic of sages and sages. Rishikund is a hot water spring which is 6 km from Sitakund between two peaks of Kharagpur hill. It is situated at a distance of 23 km from Munger near the Lavagadhi-Patam path in the southeast. The place is named after the famous sage Shringa. The hot spring located here remains the main attraction among the tourists. It is said that whether a person is tall or short, water remains around his waist. There is a very ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which is very popular among the devotees.

Close to the Kasaharani Ghat is #SitaCharan. Mata is the phase of Sita. This stone is 250 meters long and 30 meters wide. There is also a small temple at this place.

Every year in the month of December, the Munger Festival is celebrated here and the 3-year-old Malmas Mela at Rishi Kund, which lasts for a month, is quite famous.
