Hi friends, I hope you’re all doing well. Today we’ll be doing an interesting project, we’ll be crafting this ID wallet out of Shell Cordovan in natural color. For this project, I’m using a Japanese Shell that I’ve actually used on other projects before such as a pen sleeve and keychain, which you can find the videos on this Channel as well.
I have some mixed feelings with Shinki Shell. While I think it has a beautiful shine, it’s definitely not my favorite one. I’ve always thought that Shinki shell looks very fake, like a polished plastic. In fact, the back side of the leather doesn’t look like leather at all, it’s almost like a mesh or fabric. Another thing is the stiffness of the leather compared to other cordovan ones. Horween leather, for instance, feels much softer and malleable. Finished products made out of Horween cordovan leather even have a very rich and amazing smell, something that Shinki doesn’t have.
Overall, if you’re looking for a very glossy and even finished shell cordovan, this might be a good option for you. In future videos I want to try out different shells like Roccado, which I’ve seen have very interesting color combinations.
Friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed the video. As always, thank you so much for watching! Let me know what you think about it and if you liked it and wish to see more leather projects, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe!
Have a great day!
