After more than eight years of suspension, operations at the Eastern Regional Immigration Offices in Garissa will be resume on July 1, 2023. Speaking in Garissa Interior and National Administration CS Kithure Kindiki has announced that the passport control office, which was closed in 2014, will open its doors as part of the Kenya Kwanza administration's efforts to enhance equal access to quality @ImmigrationDept services. Kindiki also noted that the government is investing Ksh.20B to modernise security equipment and boost the capacity of specialised units security agencies to effectively deal with modern day security threats.
