If you come across on opponent playing the 1-4 Trap, the key to beating it is be patient with puck. Do not try skating into the offensive zone if you don't see a lane open, this will usually result in you getting knocked off the puck shortly after entering the zone. Instead you want to do one of 3 things. The first way you can try to beat the tap is to stay planted in the neutral zone; if your opponent realizes that you're not gonna bite into his trap he may start forechecking again which will allow you to open up a lane if you beat the forechecker. The second way to beat the trap is to throw the puck back to your defensive, skate around the neutral zone, or cycle the puck in the neutral zone. If you do this long enough effectively you should eventually be able to pull either the opponent or their AI out of position, opening up a lane so you can enter the offensive zone (as shown in this video). The last way to beat the trap seems to be the least effective way for me but can work if you have a fast enough team. Right before entering the zone dump the puck into the offensive zone and aggressively forecheck to try and regain the puck aka dump and chase.
