The objective of this study is to examine the changing conditions of local intangible heritage in the Mueang Surin area amid contemporary social contexts that affect the transmission of the community’s unique cultural traditions. The study aims to analyze the causes of cultural decline as well as propose approaches for preservation and revitalization through the lens of Buddhist local wisdom. Findings indicate that various forms of local knowledge—such as traditional crafts, customary rituals, and indigenous beliefs—are being marginalized due to the influence of modern media, economic pressures, and shifts in the lifestyles of younger generations. Cultural preservation, therefore, requires collaborative efforts among communities, educational institutions, and local authorities to establish learning processes grounded in Buddhist values and to foster meaningful cultural transmission.
