Fair Lakes Springfest was held on May 12th, 2018 in the corporate parking lot across from the Whole Foods/Dicks/Kohl’s shopping center in Fairfax, Virginia. The event featured a variety of family friendly events including live music from the Fair Lakes Community Church Worship Band, Irish step dancing from the Foley Academy of Irish Dance and a DJ playing all the classic party dance hits.

The event was put on by the Fair Lakes League and included multiple moon bounces, costumed characters (Belle, Captain America, Trollz), bicycle art, big trucks (towing, garbage, fire trucks), face painting, balloon animals and more. Carnival food including ice cream, funnel cakes, kettle corn and great barbecue from Bacon’s BBQ truck.

This entire event was shot using a Panasonic HC-X1 4K video camera using the “Spark” scene file profile. I kind of liked the way Spark worked for an outdoor event like this where I didn’t have to spend any time in post-production to work on the colors. It doesn’t get a blue sky, but it has kind of a happy and heavenly look. The video was shot at 60fps as well and I didn’t slow any of it down to slow motion like I often do for videos like this.
