So a lot of you probably remember that a little while back we covered the crazy story of The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet… an unidentified song dating back to the 80s. No name, no band… just an old recording from a decades old mixtape.

Well today, I’m happy to report to the Professor of Rock community that the mystery has been solved. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, you can watch our episode on the Most Mysterious Song on the Internet. In it I go into detail about how this mystery started and cover all the twists and turns in this 17-year search for the identity of this song. The Most Mysterious Song is part of a lost media phenomenon called Lostwave… The genre is a nod to 80s New Wave and is comprised of songs whose identities are unknown. And there are more of these songs than you might guess. There are even Lostwave communities online that work to discover the origins of these anonymous tracks. And there have been multiple instances where they succeeded. In fact, we featured one of these songs on another episode.
