The song Midnight Boy is part of Nora’s debut EP, ‘Past Chronicles,’ that addresses the more careless years of her adolescence. ‘Past Chronicles’ features in the trilogy consisting of 3 EP’s Nora recently announced, ‘Past Chronicles, Present Chronicles, and Future Chronicles,’ which take one on a journey of Nora’s development as a young woman.
In the song Midnight Boy we hear about an «alpha male» character, who has an ability to influence others in a way where they do anything he wants. The truth is, as Nora found out after the creation of ‘Midnight Boy,’ that such ‘men,’ or boys, still have their food cooked and underwear washed by their mothers. Naturally, there is no shame in such acts, however, Nora considers them highly humorous. In the fun song Midnight Boy, ‘messing with other girls’ from the side of the guy seems to be just a side factor women have to deal with in modern day society. Nora Polinnia’s song Midnight Boy calls all young women to rise above the momentary thrill and societal notions. Nora summons all women, to join her Midnight Girl disco - a creative journey which will last a lifetime, where everyday and all day there is talk of independence, personal flourishing and breaking down all barriers. Let’s all be Midnight Girls…
For the creation of the Midnight Boy stand-up video, Nora collaborated with her family members and fellow Ukrainian artists to put together a visual piece that would be both satirical and serious at once, as the atmosphere of the background video where she dances clashes with the consistent commentary which makes fun of Midnight Boys and herself as well. The one-liners, written by Nora and her mom, provide a backstage glimpse into how the song was written and what happened in Nora’s life throughout its creation.

This video took two years to make - throughout this time Nora managed to finish high school. This difference is visible between her youthful singer self and the grown stand-upper she became.
