Rock & Hyde - Dirty Water [Extended Version] (1987)

I was music director at my high school's radio station when this one came out. I received a 45 along with an info sheet about why I should program the record. That was totally unnecessary because I liked the song, and THAT was why I put it into rotation! I also put it on many mixtapes for my friends at the time, but despite my best efforts, the song just didn't get any attention in the US. It made it to #61 on the Billboard chart here, while in Canada, it was a Top-20 hit.

ANYWAY - Decades go by, and I completely forgot about it. Last month I was traveling for work, and went digging at a fantastic record store, and found this in the 99-cent bin - I had only ever heard the 45, so an extended version was an exciting thing to find... Especially when I got it home and put it on - it's perfect! More of what made me love the song in the first place, and perfect for presenting here!

As a side note, the Hyde in Rock And Hyde is Paul Hyde, from the Payolas, who had a fair amount of success in the early '80s (again, mostly in Canada)... and the Rock in Rock And Hyde? Mega Superstar Producer Bob Rock... the guy responsible for the sound on The Cult's Sonic Temple, Metallica's Black Album, Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood, and so many other hard rock classics, was also the mastermind behind this easygoing, shuffling anthem. Yay Variety! (along the lines of Variety, he's also produced several of Michael Buble's albums)
