So many dancers call ANY shimmies 3/4, which is a mistake. You won't have to look far on YT to see an example.
Why does it make a difference if you call a "regular shimmy" a "3/4 shimmy"?
Because MUSIC: if you ask a drummer to play a 3/4-time song, that will sound much different than a "regular (time)" song.
