A few sessions UL Lure fishing on the Rappahannock in Fredericksburg, VA. Plenty of species to be had, and plenty of terrain to explore.
Set aside your hopes for a 'monster' and just enjoy catching a wide variety of native fish on light gear, you'll never look back.
Also recommend the after dark sight-fishing there with a headlamp, I've had plenty of cool fish at night too.
Expect Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill and Sunfish, Rock Bass, White Perch, Stripers, Fallfish, and I've seen some monster Gar in these pools.
