We're back on the Pontiac 350 Rebuild today, let's make some progress! When we last left this 350 Pontiac build we had finished tearing down the engine and located and acquired a set of Pontiac 62 heads, which are a screw in stud, big valve, small combustion chamber heads from 1968! Perfect for our Pontiac 350HO build, as long as they are ok and not injured, so next step is head disassembly and cleaning!
Fortunately for me we here at Lucore Automotive have just about every toy and capability a person could ask for when it comes to a head teardown. We aren't quite a machine shop, but we're getting closer by the day! The end goal of this Pontiac Engine Build is to propel our 1968 Pontiac LeMans into a 12 flat at the 2024 Pontiac Nationals, and as long as these heads clean up and check out ok, we just might be one big step closer!
These heads WILL need machining, and WILL need all new components in order to go back together. That IS expensive no doubt, but with the price of aluminum Pontiac heads, redoing a set of cast iron guys still makes a lot of sense for someone trying to build power on a budget.
