Permanent Presidential Music Commission presents IRITUNGU - a lyre from Kenya, with its cultural dance.
THIS IS THE STORY OF THE IRITUNGU
Iritungu - This is a lyre played by the Kuria. It has 8 strings with two arms running from the resonator and a cross bar. It is tuned by adjusting urusiri and is played by men. It is accompanied by ekegogo (fiddle) and ibirandi (shakers) in a performance.
