Hello Everyone, today's video is from our trip this past summer to Vietnam. We take you to Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, where the Yangtze Giant Softshell turtle once lived. Unfortunately, all individuals from this lake are now deceased. In the last several years, 2 individuals have died, leaving only 3 remaining in the world. One in male in the Suzhou Zoo, and 2 in the wild in Vietnam. However, we don't know the sex of the 2 in Vietnam. The Turtle Survival Alliance and the Asian Turtle Program are monitoring the individuals in Vietnam, but they live in very large lakes, which makes it difficult to observe and even more difficult to trap. Hopefully more individuals are found in other large lakes in Vietnam.
