International Women's Day was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977. It is a day for remembering the efforts of women across the globe in the emancipation of women, the women's movement. It is also a day for raising awareness about the strides we still must make. Equal pay, equal opportunities, education and employment. As both a professor and a women in AI Aimee is
constantly confronted with the lack of women in this space. In the US in 2022, women made up only 27.6 percent of jobs in tech. Its important to change these numbers in order to change the male dominated working culture, to empower women, to achieve justice both algorithmic and in general and to create better AI products. So on this day let us celebrate the women working in this, make dominated space. Let us also encourage women, girls and all underrepresented groups to be a part of this change. Happy International Womens Day from the Institute for Science and Ethics (IWE) at the University of Bonn.
