Row 1: MR, Ch 3, 2 Dc (this is your first granny cluster), Ch 2, Granny cluster, Ch 2, Granny cluster, Ch 2, Granny cluster, Ch 2, SlSt into the first Dc, pull ring tight
Extension: In a multiple of 3, make a chain the length desired for your extension. Be sure to write this down so you remember the stitch count for the other side. Start your measurement at your armpit and go down. Be sure to make the Chain as long as you want the extension as it will not get any longer.
Once your extension is the chosen length, in the 3rd Ch from hook, put 2 Dc stitches, (skip 2 Chains, Granny cluster)* repeat to the last Chain.
-(Granny cluster, Chain 2, Granny Cluster) in the Chain 2 corner space of the square, and repeat 4 more times, in the same spaces on the chain and the first side, Granny cluster down the Chain on the other side all the way to the last cluster.
*You should have the same number of Granny clusters on each side of the Chain.
Row 2: Turn your work, Chain 3, 2 Dc in the same stitch to complete your first cluster, Cluster in each space down the row until you reach the first corner stitch, (Granny cluster, Chain 2, Granny Cluster in the Chain 2 space), [Granny cluster, (Granny cluster, Chain 2, Granny cluster in the Chain 2 space)]* repeat 2 more times around the square, Granny cluster in each space down the row, Dc in the last stitch
Row 3: Turn your work, Chain 3, 2 Dc in the same stitch to complete your first cluster, Cluster in each space down the row until you reach the first corner stitch, (Granny cluster, Chain 2, Granny Cluster in the Chain 2 space), [2 Granny clusters, (Granny cluster, Chain 2, Granny cluster in the Chain 2 space)]* repeat 2 more times around the square, Granny cluster in each space down the row, Dc in the last stitch
Repeat Row 3 until your cardigan half is the proper size. Make 2 halves.
