엄마의 부엌

아직 해도 뜨지 않은 새벽
불 하나 켜진 작은 부엌
엄마는 말없이 냄비를 올리고
나는 잠결에 등을 돌렸지
라디오에선 오래된 노래
누가 부른지도 모를 멜로디
그땐 몰랐어
그 노래가 엄마였다는 걸

손은 거칠고 등은 조금 굽었는데
그 모습이 왜 그렇게 당연했던 걸까

엄마의 부엌에는
늘 노래가 있었지 말하지 않아도
사랑은 거기 있었지
밥은 먹고 가라
그 한마디에 평생의 마음을
다 담아두고

학교 가던 그 아침에도

부엌은 늘 같은 자리에

밥은 먹고 가라

나는 조용히 서서 노래를 듣겠지
아무 말 없이 그냥 오래
