This Walk for Peace is a 2,300-mile cross-country pilgrimage led by Buddhist monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center, journeying from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C.
Walking in silent mindfulness and wearing their traditional saffron robes, the monks are accompanied by Aloka, a resilient former stray dog from India whose name means "Light." Together, they serve as a living meditation on compassion, non-violence, and unity. By traversing the American heartland one step at a time, they aim to bridge divides and inspire a collective "awakening" of peace in the hearts of everyone they encounter.
